Hi!
I'm Taís Ribeiro (she/her) and I'm a Brazilian evolutionary biologist.
I am originally from Belém, in the Amazon region, but I completed my undergrad in Biology and masters in Zoology in the University of Brasília. I am currently a PhD student in the EspíndoLab at the Department of Entomology at the University of Maryland.
My main research interests are evolutionary biology and biogeography.
Even though I was in the middle of the Cerrado (Brazilian Savanna), during my masters I studied the biogeography of bees in the Pampas. I now study the evolution and ecology of understudied oil-collecting bees from the genus Chalepogenus, which are in the Andes and Southern South America grasslands.
I am investigating the phylogenetic relationships and drivers of diversification for this genus of bees. I am interested in how biogeographic history, plant host preference and climatic preferences interact and influence the evolution of these bees.
